Current Issue
This issue presents essays that address the institutional control over students, a phenomenon that shapes their education and impacts their personal and professional aspirations. They challenge the homogenous concept of the student population that has taken hold in schools, disregarding cultural, social, cognitive, and physical diversity. Collectively, they advocate for fostering autonomy, given the current social and technological revolutions, which demand reflective, self-directed, critical thinkers with the capacity for self-regulation and self-motivation. The roles of both teacher and student are changing, shifting from dependence to independence. Students are expected to be active, curious, discerning, and authentic, thereby enabling them to forge their own paths to learning.
